Totnes & Dartington 2 V 4 TUFC

Torquay United kicked off their pre-season fixtures with a win against Carlsberg Peninsula Premier League East outfit Totnes & Dartington at the Foxhole Ground on Wednesday night.

Chris Hargreaves took a mixed squad for the first of United’s friendly’s, giving players on trial a good chance to stake a claim for a contract with the Gulls.

Torquay took the lead inside the first 15 minutes when new boy Ryan Bowman opened the scoring. Totnes where not to be outdone and levelled 10 minutes before the break when a direct freekick from outside the box by Chalcraft had United’s number one in all sorts of trouble.

Both sides made changes during the break and it was Totnes who took the lead, when Health scored after 55 minutes with a powerful drive from the edge of the area.

A young Gulls outfit managed to regain control of the game and hit back with three goals in 18 minutes. Two strikes from Sullivan (60,73) and Ajala (78) gave United victory in their first outing of the season.

The Gulls will now travel to Dorchester Town on Saturday, then home friendly’s against Yeovil Town, Walsall and Plymouth Argyle, before the main events kick off on August 9th.
