Local Football

Sport South Devon will bring you all the latest news and reports from your local clubs and leagues during the 2016/17 season.

Here in the South West we have a number of talented clubs in some of the best local leagues in the country. During the season we will be keeping a close eye on a number of clubs and leagues.

Buckland Athletic are the highest ranked local amateur side who play their matches in the Toolstation Western Premier League. Last season Buckland finished just short of promotion to the Southern League and, under new manager Ellis Laight, will look to push on again this season.

With Stoke Gabriel’s dramatic last day relegation, South Devon currently have no Peninsula Premier League teams, but in Peninsula Division One East we are blessed with an abundance of them: Stoke, Teignmouth (last season’s runners-up), Galmpton United, Liverton United, Totnes and Dartington, Newton Abbot Spurs (Throgmorton Premier Cup finalists ) and Brixham AFC.

We will also have league coverage from the 2016/17 South Devon Football League. This competition has six divisions of local football. Last year saw Buckland Athletic Reserves retain their title while Waldon Athletic claimed the Herald Cup, the SDFL’s ‘FA Cup.’ Can they do it again this season?

As well as the men’s action, we will bring you the latest women’s and youth football news. If you think we’ve missed you out, please get in touch!
